So its been a loooooong while since I’ve written on here it seems like but in all honesty blogging just hasn’t been a priority for me lately.
While I was in Denver, I had a BLAST!!!, but I also had a lot of bad foods for me…I had declared it vacation-cheat week (even though it was only 3 days). On Sunday when I was finally back in denton, I woke up and ate a bowl of oats and some Barney butter (all i had at the house) and for the rest of the day I was sick.
The reason? I’m guessing my body had become so accustomed to eating organic, and for the most part raw foods that as soon as I went crazy (almost every single meal) it really messed up my digestive system.
I turned to my favorite nutritionist besides Ellie Krieger, Gillian Mckeefe, and I consulted her website (I’m waiting on her books that I bought to arrive in the mail) for the first week of this detox. The thing I LOVE about her is she is not only about eating LOTS raw foods and eating often but also sweating out the toxins from the body as well….which is awesome because I don’t know if I could go a full 3 weeks without working out….NEG-A-TIVE!!!
So, in conclusion I have here for ya pictures of my first 2 days of the detox…(my first 2 meals weren’t pictured b/c I got used to not taking pictures of everything while I was on SB)
7:15am- Yogi Detox tea and hot H2O with lemon
7:30am- Pilates abs/back DVD
8:15am- Mango Madness Smoothie
1 banana (medium-ish)
blend it all up and viola!
10:30am: 1 cucumber, 2 celery stalks, 2 carrots, 1 tbsp spirulina juice….actually was pretty good!
12 (NOON): 20 min walk to class
12:30: Heap of Spinach leaves, organic tuna, 6 cherry tomatoes, 1/4 lemon
MID AFTERNOON SNACK: i didn’t have time to pack 😦 no juicy juice for me
6:20: Spin Class
7:30pm: “Baked apple” with organic hazelnuts, organic raisins, and Barney butter
I was super full all day….I think a lot of it has to do with just being full still from the week of lots of eating but I definitely start to feel refreshed yesterday morning
7:15am: Yogi Tea and hot H2O with lemon
8:15am: Mango madness Smoothie + pineapple chunks and Spirulina
All together now…
I had a Veggie/Apple Juice afterwards: 1 cucumber, 2 celery stalks, 2 carrots, 1 medium braeburn apple
After class I ran 2 miles, then headed to the pool for some sunshine!!
6pm: Gillian Mckeefe’s Shepherds Pie
How I feel so far during the detox: I feel really good right now, Its nice to eat fresh food again, and honestly Gillian hasn’t provided a recipe that I don’t enjoy. I am full all the time (especially that veggie juice, it’ll fill ya right up!) but not stuffed either, and I actually have more energy throughout the day to complete everything I need to complete while still being able to workout as well….SO FAR ITS GREAT!!!!
Have you ever detoxed? When you detoxed did you juice fast? did you follow a raw food plan like me? or did you do something else?
